La Cambre / Les manufactures Catry
Work in collaboration with M.Van Peel and T. Maudire
The Courtoisie collection was the result of a collaboration between the manufactures Catry and three La Cambre school students. Elfie Poiré, Tifenn Maudire and Mahaut Van Peel link their creativity with Catry’s know-how, the company having been in the high end rug weaving business since 1912. Getting their inspiration from a mirror’s reflective quality, the Courtoisie rugs offer a range of carpets that reinterprets existing motifs in the Catry collection. Colours and textures cross, allowing the design to appear and disappear. The Courtoisie range offers variations in tone, intensity and sharpness which all have their own atmosphere. Held in front of a mirror, the surface is prolongued and the different gradients merge.
Materials : Wool, flax thread. Techniques : Jacquar weaving - Manufacture Catry. Photo credit : Ariane de la Bâtie, Elfie Poiré
