CRACK

2017 - ENSAV La Cambre / ESAD Reims

Project in collaboration with Chloé Kowalka, student in industrial design. The junction point of what, apparently, seems to be incompatible materials leads to creating something unexpected. Plaster is smooth, cold, hard and has the capacity to brittle. Linen is textured, hot, soft and flexible. The junction point of these materials-representing the mineral and the vegetable - offers a tactile experience and a visual effect based on the oscillation between stable and unstable. The association between the two materials is an experimental process that leads to cracks and imperfections caused by breathing and movement, belonging to a singular structure.

Materials : Synthetic plaster, natural plaster, linen thread and fiber, seaweed foam, synthetic foam. Techniques : Felt, stitch, molding, coating, mixed techniques. Photo credit : Elfie Poiré, Chloé Kowalka
